A mixed Blue Chip Champs for us
We think it's always important to write honest news articles, as in this game, it doesn't always go right. There's absolutley no point in only posting the days when it goes well, as that is Social Media world where everything is shiny, better than life itself and outright utter rubbish.
The upsides, were we had a great time supporting Dani & Kate Johnston and their own horses, fabulous camaraderie and social and the effort that went into the show was massive. We caught up with the ladies at Blue Chip which was lovely, got loads more coats, supplements and goodies and they visited Koning Albert in the stables too. (Which are also lovely!)
So, we had great hopes at the Blue Chip Championships as Berti was on great form, but it was one of those shows that didn't go well for us. He always tries his heart out over every course, but the surface in the arena and warm up didn't suit him at all. It took it out of him and despite trying hard, he had some uncharacteristic mistakes and Dani didn't feel that he was travelling well.
Some horses did well, others didn't or were withdrawn. The maintenance harrowing was intense and happened a lot and for over 30 minutes each time, delaying the classes. It's such a shame for everyone, but we're sure that with the comments that we were hearing that it will be improved.
Nonetheless, Berti was a star for us, Dani's horses coped well and got placed well and we loved meeting up with so many friends there.
The staff and helpers at the event we so helpful and cheery, it made for a lovely event.
