Another gorgeous filly arrives

We are so pleased to announce the safe arrival of "Cosima", a very pretty foal sired by Koning Albert.

A miracle pregnancy, since the Post Office failed to deliver the semen on time before the mare had ovulated. Frantic phone calls back and forth between vets, the owner, myself and the local Post Office, and the semen that should have been delivered by 9am, was still with an overworked Postie who was apparently doing 3 rounds at once.

The semen eventually turned up after lunchtime, when the vet announced that the mare had already ovulated. To save wasting it, it was inseminated anyway.

Imagine everyone's delight when the owner met up with us at the Burghley stallion parade to announce that her mare "Yami", was scanned in foal to Berti and expecting a filly!

Yami is an extremely well-bred French Thoroughbred from Kidder XX x Mansonnien XX x Sea Break XX, and in the 2 generations before her the total winnings amounted to over €860,000.

Bred by the very successful Gildas VAILLANT under his D'Anjou prefix, it doesn't appear that Yami herself raced but she has certainly been a fabulous mare for her owners.
