A Great Two Days at Bury Farm High Profile Dressage Show
We had a great two days away with Ellie Roberts, Koning Albert and Lyon HK at the Bury Farm EC High Profile Dressage Show.
Our nearly five-hour journey down included a stop at Brackenspa Stud to collect the equipment needed for Albert's stud duties whilst we were away, followed by a visit to Beverley Brightman to drop off four enormous boxes of saddles, tack and equipment for her very worthwhile work helping emaciated horses and dogs in St Lucia.
And it was just as well we were prepared! During the competition a mare needed AI, so amongst the dressage tests we also fitted in a trip to Broughton Stud for a walk-in collection. A huge thank you to them for accepting Albert at such short notice and being so helpful. Competition horse one minute, breeding stallion the next — he really is a pro!
Back at Bury Farm, Albert and Lyon had a productive two days, with tests ranging from Medium 6 through to Inter I.
The scoring was not terribly generous for what Ellie and I both thought were some very nice tests, but if you cannot take the judges' opinions, then go hacking! 😋
Albert produced some really beautiful work, with just the occasional blip or moment of tension. Overall, he put up a very good show against some seriously impressive, purpose-bred dressage horses. Our music created by Equidance sounded amazing over their speakers!
Lyon was doing the really fancy stuff and is a huge credit to Ellie's patience and persistence. He is not an easy horse, but he is enormously talented. I bet Ellie never thought at the beginning of the year that she would be riding Inter I in 2026 — AND looking so good doing it!

Both temporary stables were also thoroughly disinfected with Equine Bio Genie before the horses moved in, giving us extra peace of mind whilst away from home.
