Elementary BD Champion and Novice Reserve Champion
This weekend has been unreal for Koning Albert and Ellie Roberts.
We took part in the British Dressage North and East Championships at Epworth EC amongst some pretty strong combinations. Saturday Berti and Ellie performed in the Novice 23 and 37A with 34 entries in each. In some pretty shocking downpours, they danced their way to over 72% in both tests. We were thrilled that they took Reserve Novice Champion in the category, with Jess Carr taking the win just 0.6% in front.
On the Sunday, they did the Elementary 43 and 59 and Berti is fairly new at this level, having only done the 59 test once before. With several green errors by Berti, dropping his scores on both tests, he still got a very credible 68.79% and 70.31% in the tests. We were thrilled that this gave him the overall win in the Elementary Championships.
Scores were incredibly tight at the top, with Hannah Macmillan only 0.04% behind, taking Reserve Champion. Special credit goes to her as there was a mix up in the scoring and initially, she was presented as winner, so it was so sweet of her when she took it so well, giving up her prizes to Ellie and Berti.
It was also nice at the show as Koning Sport Horses sponsored the Advanced Medium class, and the Championhip was taken by Alison Timmins. It was great to be able to present Ellie Roberts 4th place on her own horse, Lyon HK in this class and the Rosettes and sashes were stunning!
Lyon performed well all weekend. Not showing the greatness that he is so capable of due to some tension, but he is 200% better each outing. Proud of Ellie remembering 8 tests without a caller too!
Thank you to Jo Byrne for organising, and Cheryl and John at Epworth for yet another great show. As always, thank you to Ellie for riding so beautifully in terrible weather, to Jezz for the lesson just before, to Dani for the showjump training the day before and to Berti for being you. So proud that in 2024 Albert and Ellie haven't been out of the top 4 in over 20 classes entered, including the Regionals! Not bad for a showjumper
