At Koning Sport Horses, we believe in taking a thoughtful, team-based approach to the care and management of our horses. Every horse is an individual, and we work alongside a range of trusted professionals to support welfare, comfort and performance β always with a practical, sustainable plan that suits both the horse and our programme.
For many years, Koning Albert and our previous competition horses have benefitted from regular treatment from Nicola Baguley, our highly valued physiotherapist, whom we have known and trusted for a long time. As a working stallion competing in both dressage and showjumping, and regularly ridden by four different riders, Albert benefits enormously from consistent maintenance, tension release and sympathetic support.
Following Nicola's recommendation, we recently invited Helen Thornton Osteopath to work with Albert alongside his existing programme. Helen kindly fitted us into a busy schedule and, as expected, found plenty to address.
Berti's session included lots of the signs we love to see: relaxation, yawning and clear release through his body. We also learnt a new term β pandiculation β which was fascinating to observe in practice during the session.
The best endorsement of all? Berti came out of his treatment feeling like a new man, and has since been rather delighted to demonstrate his newly found freedom on hacks⦠behaving like a four-year-old again now he has remembered he can bend in two whilst being ridden!
A sincere thank you to Helen for her professional, calm and collaborative approach. We are very much looking forward to continuing to work alongside you as part of Albert's ongoing programme. Photographed here with Sophie our lovely Apprentice.
