Just keep trying.......
Poor Koning Albert has hit a run of bad luck with his jumping at the moment during the second rounds classes. Whilst jumping his socks off, he has managed over several shows to: knock a pole off by touching it with his tummy, decide he knew best and took a big oxer on from a mile off, be marked for landing in the water at Stainsby Grange when the photos clearly showed he cleared it, and I missed the timeslot to appeal.
Then at Dallas Burston, he was stabled next to an in-season mare and he didn't know if he was coming or going, then to be presented with a black water tray, it blew his already frazzled mind, so we went home.
Today, he backed himself off in a combination and gave himself no chance of clearing a big oxer, so he decided to stop (good idea tbh!) Clearing it second time, so he incurred lots of time faults, but pleased he got past the water jump without a care in the world.
He never had a problem before on water trays but the large black tray at Dallas Burston that accounted for over 2/3rd's of the faults in the class and injuries and nasty falls requiring ambulances clearly left its mark on him.
I spent a lot of time regaining his confidence over black, gold, green and blue full water jumps in hand on a lunge line and when he was ready, Daniella hopped on and it's paid off. So, whilst today wasn't a success, it was in our eyes!
Moral of the story... don't give up
