Sheepgate success for Koning Albert & Lyon HK

Koning Albert and Lyon HK enjoyed a successful and entertaining outing to Sheepgate Equestrian Centre today, with plenty to celebrate both in and out of the arena.

Travelling together, the pair certainly kept us smiling — forming quite the partnership in the lorry, happily sharing hay and affection through the partition. It is safe to say their friendship is firmly established!

🏆 Lyon HK – Inter I Freestyle to Music Winner

First away was Lyon HK, expertly ridden by Ellie Roberts. Producing a confident and expressive test, he handled the atmosphere beautifully and delivered a superb performance to take 1st place in the Inter I Freestyle to Music with an impressive 68%.

It has been fantastic to watch this horse grow in confidence and learn to manage his anxieties, now beginning to truly showcase the quality of his work.

🐴 Koning Albert – Characterful as Ever

Next up was Koning Albert ("Berti"), who delivered a test full of quality and promise. Aside from a few minor errors, it was shaping up to be a standout performance — until the right canter half pass!

In true Berti fashion, he momentarily decided that the movement was not on his agenda, expressing his opinion rather clearly before eventually settling and continuing with the rest of an otherwise excellent test.

Ellie later re-presented the movement towards the end of the test, earning a pleasing 7 from the judge, proving that the earlier disagreement was purely a matter of timing rather than ability.

Berti finished on 67%, securing qualification in the class and also taking 1st place.

✨ A Successful Day All Round

Both horses returned home with top placings and plenty of positives to take forward. More importantly, they continued their now well-established friendship all the way home!
