U25's Dressage Champs at Sheepgate EC

Monday and Tuesday saw us all at the U25 Championships at Sheepgate Equestrian Centre down in the south of Lincolnshire. Koning Albert entered in some Mediums and Medium Freestyle to Music and Lyon HK, doing more fancy stuff with Advanced Medium and Prix St. Georges.

With Ellie doing 4 tests a day, Jo (her Mum) and I were kept on our toes. Ellie and Lyon had some very good results and some PB's in the upper levels. Lyon's maturing very slowly but is so so talented he doesn't know what to do with his talent at times 🚀

Berti started out on the Monday overly fresh and wasn't really with Ellie at times, choosing to be a bit strong. This led to lower marks than he is capable of, but he can't be perfect all the time. His Freestyle to music was gorgeous and he received 70% with lovely comments.

On day two he settled much more and many parts of his tests were superb, but having done lots of dressage recently, and doing tests with simple changes and flying changes, Berti was becoming somewhat of an "Overachiever", and kept offering Ellie fancy stuff instead of what was required 🙄, this lead to several poor marks from the bemused judges.

Nonetheless, we are so so proud of him as these are the top U25's in the Country and we can only but bow down to their abilities and talent. In his defence, how many of those horses have 2 fabulous riders, who compete them in 2 different disciplines and fit in stud work 🤷🏻
