Starting off at Sheepgate Equestrian on Saturday with Ellie Roberts in the pilot's seat. Berti contested his two hardest tests so far, the new Medium's 4 and 5. Showing quite a bit of tension in both tests, he still gained 68.13% in the M4 and 63.83% in the M5 with an expensive jog in the extended walk ๐ซข Nonetheless, he has now qualified for the Regionals at Medium now as well ๐ค Even though he came 2nd and 1st in the classes, the place is irrelevant as only the percentages count here for qualifications. We also took Ellie's own horse, Lyon HK, who smashed the Adv Medium Music test with a fabulous percentage, but sadly rather lost the plot in life in his PSG Music, which is such a shame as he is so blessed with talent.
We wouldn't normally do 2 days competing in a row, but Berti is on a back foot for his Foxhunter double clears since he spent most of the winter off with an injury and has 3 more to get in less than a month๐คฏ
So, on Sunday as Jill was playing Medics elsewhere, Dave kindly took Berti to Willow Banks EC for Dani Johnston to compete in the Foxhunter. Dani had already landed a DC and 1st place on another ride in a previous class, so I hoped her luck would pay off. It seems that Berti's luck is better when I'm not there (none taken) and they also gained a DC and 1st place despite Dani thinking she was taking a long route and going slow๐ to keep points down.
Thank you to our riders, sponsors, the judges and the show centres who make these events happen and allow us to enjoy our expensive hobby.
